FAU ARIADNEphil Mentoring held its ceremonial kick-off event on 20th April 2026, featuring a lecture by Professor Antje Kley on the poetry of Claudia Rankine. The Women’s Representative of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology, Dr. Cleophea Ferrari, addressed all mentees and mentors of the 2026/27 cohort in welcome speech and also bid farewell to the 2024/26 cohort. We wish all new mentees a productive and rewarding 18 months in their mentoring tandems, the peer network, and through the targeted ARIADNE workshop program. A special thanks also goes to all mentors who actively support ARIADNEphil and thereby contribute to gender equality in academia.1/31/4

Background about FAUmentoring ARIADNEphil

The program is aimed at female academics from all departments who have at least started a doctorate, i.e. doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, habilitation candidates and W1-professors.

The core of the program is one-to-one mentoring, in which the mentee receives individual advice and support from experienced academics at higher qualification levels.

The aim of the program is to individually support high-potential female researchers in their academic career planning.

An accompanying, target group-specific event program consisting of workshops, lectures and network meetings also gives mentees the opportunity to acquire career-relevant skills and build networks. The top-class event and seminar program is offered exclusively and free of charge for the mentees.

The career mentoring program for female researchers at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology is part of the target agreements for increasing the proportion of women in academia 2023-2027 which were agreed between the university executive board and the faculty.
